Cheers to the Bride & Groom…and the fashion!

Hi all,

Most of you who know me know that I have been to a LOT of weddings.  I have loved everyone of them, but there is always that stress of trying to figure out what to wear, right? There are so many factors to consider….what season is it? is the wedding more formal or casual? what colors are the bridesmaids wearing (I’ve been to many weddings were I end up wearing very similar dresses to the bridesmaids…not fun)? Long or short? sleeves, no sleeves? and of course…SHOES?!?! I mean I need to be able to dance so can I survive in heels?!?!

I have two weddings in Florida this fall, one that just happened in Vero Beach..Congrats Drew and Andrea!! And another in Islamorada…can’t wait Katie! I decided to do some research and also vet out the help of my fashionable friends, Rachelle and Lauren.  I ended up getting both dresses from Anthropologie..they happened to have 15% off full price dresses!

Here are the details of my outfit from Drew and Andrea’s wedding and also a guest feature from my girl Lauren who looked like Rachel Zoe to me…you go Lauren!

Scandal! Scandal clothes, Scandal glasses….alll Scandal, alll day!

Hi all,

Do you watch Scandal? Uggghhh…..I love it.. Olivia Pope is my idol.  With the new season premiere out, Millie Grant is topping my idol list (Bellamy Young).  Although, I don’t know if I would ever want a clothing line out based around Millie.  Especially now that she is in pjs only!

If you were like me, you were pumped about the idea that the Limited was coming out with a line dedicated to Scandal.  For one, you would know from my blog posts that most of my work outfits have some piece from the LImited, but also as I said before, Olivia Pope is my idol…including fashion idol.

Well…the only thing that I bought from the Scandal line was a pair of long leather gloves…and I only bought them when they were 40% off (I had my mom actually pick them up since she works right above the Limited and they were out online).

I guess I was just too hyped up for it, but nothing really jumped out at me.  Oh well.

What I am excited about is the wine glasses from Crate & Barrel!!! The ones that Olivia always has her daily diet in (red wine of course).

I also felt that this outfit below had a very ‘Scandal/Olive Pope’ vibe.  Check it out!!

Back to Blue/Green!

Blue and greens are still my favorite colors.  I had to drive to Chicago on Tuesday so I wanted to be comfortable while I drove, still be a little stylish, and look professional for this meeting I had to attend.  Therefore, the outfit below.  From the recommendation of one of my most stylish, most loving, crazy, cayenne pepper throwing and smallest and closest friends I know (who is a new mom!), Rachelle, I included some more jewelry in this post. This outfit is a good mix of bargains and splurges ($5 Flats to really expensive watch).

I also made a stop at IKEA, Old Navy, and Nordstrom while I was there (see later post for my steal and splurges).  For those of you that know me, you know that if I see a Nordstrom I will stop immediately because for the first 1.5 years of me living in Wisconsin, no Nordstrom existed in the state of Wisconsin. More to be explained later, but the end result is that I needed to be comfortable….

Usually I’m more of a blue/green person, but I love my pink blouse!

Hey everyone,

Again, I’ve been in training for the past two weeks but have a few favorites outfits I want to share.  First, as the title says, I’m really more of a blue/green person….pink has slowly but surely crept into a big role in my wardrobe.  Hot pink more than anything!  I am also including a picture of a (younger), more stylish colleague of mine.  Her and I wore a similar outfit this day….Royal color button up and black/white/tweedish on bottom.  I also love her earrings because they are one of my favorite designers (sometimes because of the name), Kendra Scott.  Here are both outfits…enjoy!

Outfits for Work…it’s important!

I’ve always had such issues with picking out work outfits. Casual Fridays? How casual can you really be? Or how can you mix it up between pants, skirts, dresses, etc.? Also….I would love to wear heels to work, but it is impossible to get my 10,000 steps per day in heels. My company actually has a sign at the bottom of the 4 floor staircase that says ‘No heels on stairs’….for real? I do get that panic in me when I start going down the stairs in heels and someone is behind me trying to go fast…do I risk twisting my ankle so someone can make it to their meeting on time? Or do I just take it slow and look like the a**hole holding everyone up on the stairs because I want to be fashionable? What’s the hashtag? #firstworldproblems …..  nope #fashionhurts

This girl has definitely taken some hints from Pinterest in the ‘work outfits’ category and have found a great section in Nordstrom that has brands like Trouve and Ro & De that combine function and fashion at a semi reasonable price. the Limited and Express are still go to’s for the basics and sometimes splurge on a nice pair of pants at Banana Republic or JCrew. H & M and Zara also help me with the trends without killing my paycheck.

So I’ve been in training for the past week causing me to be behind on outfits, but here are 3 of my favorites from last week and today:
